Excessive scratching and shedding can be symptoms of a food allergy, these can reduce with the right food and there will be less clean-up with better food. am not sure you can help because you are only a dog, but here goes….My humans are giving me canned food after years of giving me dry. Cats on dry food can become dehydrated which, over time, can cause serious health problems. Canned food contains lots of water and can help avoid dehydration (just make sure the ingredients are good). Change can be difficult but stick with it.     Max
he first ingredients of my food are lamb, rice, corn, sorghum, corn grits. Is this OK?      Concerned in DDO Dear Concerned, Your food has a lot of grain. Kibble type foods may look similar but can vary significantly in quality. We dogs evolved to eat meat and better rated foods have more of it. Try switching foods, you will probably have a shinier coat, feel more content and have better health over the long term. Mon Ami’s website provides ratings for many brands of kibble.     Max
My humans don’t take me for walks often because they say I pull too much (there are so many interesting smells). I am getting bored. Canned and raw food contain plenty of water and this helps keep your cat hydrated.  Cats typically have a low thirst drive.  Cats that eat dry food and have a water bowl available will only ingest on average 1/2 the water of a cat eating raw or canned.  This can result in chronic dehydration  which can cause or contribute to many health issues such as urinary crystals, stones, bladder infections, constipaation and kidney disease.
