Nutrition Tips For Your Dog

Here is what to look in a dog food:

  •  The first ingredients should be named meats, poultry or fish

  •  Avoid by-products (including meat-and-bone-meal and beef-and-bone-meal).

  •  Limit the grains! There is an increasing push by many quality pet food companies to eliminate or significantly reduce grains in pet food.  Click Here to learn about some of the problems linked to grains.

  •  Avoid the chemical preservatives and humidity retainer (BHA, BHT, propyl gallate, ethoxyquin, propylene glycol).

  • Select “natural” or “human grade” foods. These terms have no legal definition but are generally seen on    better-quality foods.

  • If your dog is having issues like: lack of interest in his/her food, allergies, itching, shedding, ear infections runny eyes, lack of energy, dull coat etc. Consider feeding a hypoallergenic food or a different category of food. The categories are: kibble, canned, raw, and dehydrated. Some customers have seen dramatic improvements by changing foods and/or food category.

  • Pro-biotics and pre-biotics can be helpful to boost the immunity.

Pet Nutrition Is Important!!

Dogs evolved from wolves and are genetically almost identical. Like wolves, dogs are carnivors. The best rated dog foods have higher meat contents. Poor quality foods can be detrimental to your pet’s health and contribute to allergies, obesity, excessive shedding, diabetes and even cancer.
